There's one particular Lorde song that runs in Olivia Rodrigo's blood.

In a new roundtable interview with The Hollywood Reporter featuring several of this year's prominent songwriters, Rodrigo opened up about how the "trajectory" of her life was changed upon hearing Lorde's 2013 hit, "Royals."

"I remember getting my first phone at probably, like, 12 or 13, and the first thing I did was download Lorde, Pure Heroine," the 20-year-old "Vampire" performer told the outlet in the interview, released as part of the series Off Script with The Hollywood Reporter.

"I love that record so much," continued Rodrigo. "I remember listening to it as I first started writing songs and just being blown away by her lyrics that are just about, you know, being a teenager, living in the suburbs."

The Grammy winner recalled feeling as though Lorde, who was 16 at the time of the album's September 2013 release, "made being young and doing these seemingly unimportant things feel so sacred and beautiful" through her songwriting.

"That album is one of my favorites, and she still inspires me a lot to this day," added Rodrigo, before going in-depth on her love for "Royals."

Released ahead of the album as its first single in June 2013, the song featured commentary on popular musicians' penchant for singing about lavish lifestyles that aren't relatable for many listeners.

"We'll never be royals / It don't run in our blood / That kind of luxe just ain't for us / We crave a different kind of buzz," sings Lorde, 27, on the electro-pop track, which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and won two Grammy Awards for song of the year and best pop solo performance at the 2014 ceremony.

"I remember hearing that song on the radio for the first time," recalled Rodrigo. "It was one of those pinch-me moments where you always remember — snapshot memory. Like, ‘Oh my God. What is this?’ It changes the trajectory of your life."

The New Zealand-born musicain has a place in Rodrigo's heart to this day. In a September interview with PEOPLE, the former High School Musical: The Musical: The Series star said Lorde's "Solar Power" is featured on one of her go-to Spotify playlists.
