Concerts can change lives, as New Kids on the Block member Donnie Wahlberg was reminded in a recent interview.
正如New Kids on the Block成員唐尼·沃爾伯格在最近的一次采訪中所提醒的那樣,音樂會可以改變生活。

Chatting with Sirius XM's TikTok Radio, Wahlberg recalled meeting a fan who shared how attending one of NKOTB's shows literally gave her a new lease on life — and a new kidney.

"Not make it a more somber thing — it's actually a really hopeful thing — but we literally just were with some fans who one of them brought a sign to a concert in the front seat and said, 'I need a kidney transplant.' And we just happened to see the sign, took selfies with it, posted it, and another fan donated her kidney,"  Wahlberg said.

The Blue Bloods star added, "That's crazy in the best way. She literally did that. Went to the concert and said, 'I’m going to make this happen and save my life.' And she did. Another Blockhead risked her life to do it."

Wahlberg is most likely referring to Orange County teacher Theresa Crockett, who had Polycystic kidney disease and was looking for a donor for two years when she attended a NKOTB show last August. She brought with her a sign that said she was seeking a donor while her son made a viral TikTok video explaining her story.

At the concert, Wahlberg was the first to notice the sign. "He folded it and said, 'I got you, I got you,' and when he said those words and gave us fist pumps, it's exactly what I needed to hear," Crockett told KABC last year.

The band then brought the sign onstage and made an announcement. Fellow NKOTB fan, a.k.a. Blockhead, Christina Meyer of Wisconsin, reached out and offered Crockett her kidney.

"I saw her banner and we kind of talked briefly while we were there," Meyer said. "I'm happy to be able to do this for her."

Meyer's kidney was shipped from Wisconsin to Los Angeles for Crockett to have her surgery on Aug. 31. Crockett shared another TikTok in September from the hospital of a news story that showed both she and Meyer recovering after the surgery.
