他不耐煩地沖我皺起了眉：“我沒打算讓你走回家。我們會去取你的卡車然后把它給你留在這里。”
"I don't have my key with me," I sighed. "I really don't mind walking." What I minded was losingmy time with him.
“我沒帶鑰匙。”我嘆了口氣。“我真的不介意走回去。”我真正介意的是錯失了和他待在一起的時光。
He shook his head. "Your truck will be here, and the key will be in the ignition — unless you'reafraid someone might steal it." He laughed at the thought.
他搖了搖頭。“你的卡車會在這里的，而鑰匙會在點火器里——除非你害怕有人會把它偷走。”一想到這里他就大笑起來。
"All right," I agreed, pursing my lips. I was pretty sure my key was in the pocket of a pair ofjeans I wore Wednesday, under a pile of clothes in the laundry room. Even if he broke into myhouse, or whatever he was planning, he'd never find it. He seemed to feel the challenge in myconsent. He smirked, overconfident.
“好吧。”我同意了，撅起了嘴。我非?？隙ㄎ业蔫€匙在我星期三穿的牛仔褲的口袋里，在洗衣間的一堆衣服下面。即使他能闖進(jìn)我家里，或者以他計劃的任何方式進(jìn)去，他也永遠(yuǎn)找不到它。他似乎感覺到了我的同意里的挑釁。他自負(fù)地壞笑起來。
"So where are you going?" I asked as casually as I could manage.
“那么，你要去哪里?”我用自己所能控制的最若無其事的語氣問道。
"Hunting," he answered grimly. "If I'm going to be alone with you tomorrow, I'm going to takewhatever precautions I can." His face grew morose… and pleading. "You can always cancel, youknow."
“狩獵。”他冷酷地回答道。“如果明天我打算和你單獨相處，我就得做好萬全的預(yù)防措施。”他的表情變得乖僻起來……還有懇求。“你隨時都可以取消計劃，你知道的。”
I looked down, afraid of the persuasive power of his eyes. I refused to be convinced to fearhim, no matter how real the danger might be. It doesn't matter, I repeated in my head.
我低下頭，害怕著他那雙富有說服力的眼睛。我拒絕承認(rèn)自己是在害怕他，不管那種危險有多么的真切。這無關(guān)緊要。我在腦海里重復(fù)著。
"No," I whispered, glancing back at his face. "I can't."
“不，”我耳語著，抬起頭看著他的臉。“我不能。”
"Perhaps you're right," he murmured bleakly. His eyes seemed to darken in color as I watched.
“也許你是對的。”他低聲說著，語氣蒼涼。當(dāng)我看過去的時候，他眼睛的顏色似乎變黑了。
