1. low on cash 缺錢花

eg：OK, you got me. I'm low on cash this month!好吧。你猜對了。我這個月正缺錢呢!

2. poor as a church mouse 像教堂里的耗子那么窮，一貧如洗

eg：Nobody could imagine that he was as poor as a church mouse when he first came to Hong Kong.沒人能想象到當(dāng)初他剛來到香港的時候是一貧如洗的。

3. dirt-poor 非常窮困的;極貧困的

eg：Where would this dirt-poor Jack get a hundred dollars?杰克這個窮光蛋到哪兒弄一百美元去?

4. working poor 窮忙族(在低報酬職務(wù)工作的人)

eg：Now, more and more people are involved in "working poor".現(xiàn)在，越來越多的人們被卷入了“窮忙族”的圈子。

5. live from paycheck to paycheck 月光族

eg：We stress about the fact that we live from paycheck to paycheck but we don't change our spending habits.我們強(qiáng)調(diào)我們靠薪水過日子，常常不夠花，但從來不改變自己的消費(fèi)習(xí)慣。

6. max out (credit card) 刷爆信用卡

eg：A good way to become penniless is to max out your credit cards and keep borrowing more until the repayments overwhelm you.想變得一貧如洗的好辦法就是最大限度地透支你的信用卡，并不斷地借更多的錢，直到債務(wù)把你壓垮。

7. be broke 破產(chǎn)了，身無分文了

eg：When I had no job last winter, I had to live from hand to mouth.去年冬天沒找到工作，我不得不過著勉強(qiáng)糊口的生活。
