Due to the increased enrollment of college students in recent years,

最近幾年隨著大學(xué)生人數(shù)的增多

the total number of graduates coming out at the same time is such that

同時大學(xué)畢業(yè)生的人數(shù)也在增加

many college graduates have difficulties in procuring jobs,

許多應(yīng)屆畢業(yè)生很難找到工作

especially when the economy is suffering slowdown.

特別是在經(jīng)濟(jì)發(fā)展緩慢時期尤為如此。

And then many scholars suggest that colleges should lay emphasis on vocational training

許多學(xué)者建議大學(xué)應(yīng)該注重的是職業(yè)培養(yǎng)

by setting relative courses in the college curriculum

并在大學(xué)課程中建立相關(guān)課程

so that graduates are more likely to be employed.

這樣畢業(yè)生才更有可能找到工作。

Taking the employers requirement into consideration,

我們需要把雇主的要求考慮進(jìn)內(nèi)

that is, working experience,the suggestion seems reasonable.

這樣的話這樣的建議是很有道理的。

However,I think, even if universities become vocation-oriented,

-但是我認(rèn)為如果大學(xué)變成了以職業(yè)化教育為主的學(xué)校

it can not serve well for the employment.

那么這反而不利于找工作。

Besides,the vocational orientation will do harm to the higher education.

此外以職業(yè)化教育為中心的教育將會損害高等教育的發(fā)展

Firstly, the suggestion seems to be based on the fact that

首先這樣的建議似乎依據(jù)的是

new college graduates may have learned mountains of theories but lack practical abilities.

許多應(yīng)屆生或許已經(jīng)學(xué)習(xí)了大量的理論知識但是他們?nèi)狈Φ氖菍嶋H的能力。

In accord with this suggestion,

根據(jù)這樣的建議

if college students have received enough vocational training and gained experience in internship,

如果大學(xué)生接受了職業(yè)化教育并在實習(xí)過程中獲得了許多的經(jīng)驗

they are likely to get employed.

那么他們很有可能找到工作。

Admittedly, self-improvement is crucial for new graduates to hunt jobs.

-毋庸置疑對于應(yīng)屆生而言自我發(fā)展對于找工作尤為重要。

But the suggestion does not take into account job vacancies in the present.

但是這樣的建議并沒有把眼前的工作空缺考慮進(jìn)內(nèi)。

Though Chinas economy keeps growing at a rate of about 9% in the recent and the number of jobs does increase, 9%

9%盡管中國最近的經(jīng)濟(jì)速率保持在9%左右就業(yè)機(jī)會也大大增加

too many graduates coming out at a time will create great pressure for the job market.

畢業(yè)生將會為市場增加更多的壓力。

As an official stated,the grand college enrollment plan

“就像官方所說”擴(kuò)招

is one of the main reasons for the current unemployment issue.

是目前失業(yè)的主要原因之一”。

Therefore,even if college students have enough experience and skills,

所以即使學(xué)生擁有足夠的經(jīng)驗和技能

will they succeed in procuring jobs when there are no positions available at all?

?但是當(dāng)沒有工作空缺時他們還會找到工作嗎?

Secondly, vocational orientation is to the detriment of the higher learning in the long term.

第二從長遠(yuǎn)來看以職業(yè)化為中心的教育會損害高等教育的發(fā)展。

Let us begin with the difference in goals between university and vocational training.

讓我們先從大學(xué)和職業(yè)教育的不同說起。

As college students may decide to finish his studies after graduation or may continue at a higher level,

畢業(yè)之后許多應(yīng)屆生會尋找工作或是繼續(xù)進(jìn)行學(xué)習(xí)

university courses should thus provide both basic knowledge and a sound basis for further studies.

大學(xué)課程應(yīng)該既教授基本知識也要為將來的學(xué)習(xí)做好基礎(chǔ)。

In vocational training, the goals of a given course are distinct,

在職業(yè)教育中課程學(xué)習(xí)的目標(biāo)將會不同

that is, the course is designed to teach trainees basic knowledge and skills.

即課程的目的是教授學(xué)生基本的知識和技能。

In consequence,if universities are vocation-oriented,

-所以如果大學(xué)是以職業(yè)培訓(xùn)為主的教育

students at college can not get prepared in class for a higher level of learning.

那么大學(xué)生就沒辦法為更高一級的學(xué)習(xí)做準(zhǔn)備。

Predictably, the pyramid of higher learning will crumble

人們可以預(yù)想到高等教育的金字塔將會倒塌

if universities can not produce enough qualified students.

前提是如果大學(xué)沒辦法產(chǎn)生更多高質(zhì)量的學(xué)生的話。

In conclusion, vocation-orientation may help improve graduatesskills

總結(jié)以職業(yè)化教育為中心的教育會幫助畢業(yè)生提升技能

but it can not increase the number of available positions.

但是這卻無法增加現(xiàn)有的工作空缺。

The suggestion just offers a wrong remedy,

這樣的建議是行不通的

and will do harm to the higher learning.

并將損害高等教育的發(fā)展。
