DON:More than that:it's not only a leading cause of death, it's the leading cause of death.

Women over fifty are more likely to die of heart attacks than anything else.

50歲以上的女性更有可能死于心臟病發(fā)作。

YAEL:But I thought heart attacks were a guy thing.

DON:You and almost everyone else.

A recent American Heart Association poll asked what the leading cause of death in women overfifty was.

美國心臟協(xié)會最近的一項民意調查問及50歲以上婦女死亡的主要原因。

Guess how many American women got the answer correct?

猜一猜有多少美國婦女的回答正確?

YAEL:Not a lot?

DON:Only eight percent.

Even more alarming, a Gallup poll asked doctors the same question. Only fifty-five percentknew it.

That's almost one out of two getting it wrong!

YAEL:So heart attacks aren't a guy thing?

DON:Heart disease happens to women just as much as to men--maybe even more.

The number of men dying of heart attacks is dropping, studies show, while the number ofwomen dying of them is on the rise.

死于心臟病的男性正在數(shù)量下降,但研究顯示死于此種疾病女性的數(shù)量正在上升。

Some researchers speculate that it has to do with just this lack of understanding that heartdisease isn't just a male problem.

Men may be getting better prevention and better treatment, while women's warning signs arebeing missed.
