Well , I appreciate the opportunity you`re giving me , Mr Cromwell······as the single largest shareholder in Teldar Paper, to speak. We are not here to indulge in fantasy, but in political and economic reality. America···America has become a second-rate power. Its trade deficit and its fiscal deficit are at nightmare proportions. In the days of the free market, when our country was a top industrial power, there was accountability to the stockholder.

感謝您給我這個說話的機會，康威先生。我是泰達最大的私人股東。各位，我們不是來此沉浸于幻想的，而是要環(huán)顧政治和經(jīng)濟的顯示面。美國已經(jīng)成為次等強權(quán)。它的貿(mào)易赤字和財政赤字仿佛是一場噩夢。想當初在那段自由市場的日子，我們還是頂尖的工業(yè)強國，股東的持股會受到經(jīng)管的保護。

The Carnegies, Mellins, the men that built this great empire, made sure of it···because it was their money at stake. Today, management has no stake in the company! All together, these men sitting up here own less than 3% of the company. And where dose Mr Cromwell put his $1.000.000 salary? Not in Teldar stock. He owns less than 1%. You own the company. That`s right , you ,the stockholder. And you are all being royally screwed over by these bureaucrats, with their steak lunches, their fishing trips, their corporate jets and golden parachutes.

This is an outrage! You`re out of line, Gekko! Teldar Paper, Mr Cromwell, has 33different vice presidents, each earning over $200.000 a year. Now , I have spent the last two months analysing what all these guys do . And I still can`t figure it out . One thing I do know is that our paper company lost $110m last year. And I`ll bet half of that was spent in all the paperwork between al these vice presidents!

豈有此理，你太過分了，蓋克！泰達紙業(yè)，康威先生，泰達紙業(yè)共有33位副總裁。每個人的年薪都在20萬以上。我花了2個月的時間來分析這些人到底在做什么？至今我仍然想不通，我唯一知道的一件事就是泰達在去年賠了一億1000萬。我打賭有一半的錢花在了這些副總裁之間的文書往來上！

The new law of evolution in corporate America···seems to be···survival of the unfittest. Well, in my book you either do it right, or you get eliminated. In the last seven deals, that I have been involved with there were 2.5m stockholders, who have made a pre-tax profit of $12 billion. Thank you.

美國企業(yè)的新法則似乎變成了不適者生存，而我的看法是：你要不就做對，要不就被消滅。在我最近做的七筆交易中，兩百五十萬持股人，在稅前賺了一百二十億元。謝謝各位。

I am not a destroyer of companies. I am a liberator of them ! The point is , ladies and gentlemen, that greed, for lack of a better word, is good. Greed is right, Greed works. Greed clarifies, cuts through and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit. Greed, in all its forms greed for life, for money, for love, knowledge has marked the upward surge of mankind. And greed, you mark my words, will not only save Teldar Paper, but that other malfunctioning corporation called the USA. Thank you very much.

我不是來毀滅公司的，我是來解放公司的。各位女士先生們，重點就在于——貪婪，抱歉我找不到更好的字，貪婪是好的，貪婪是對的，貪婪是有用的。貪婪可以理清一切，披荊斬棘直搗演化的本質(zhì)。貪婪就是一切形式之所在。對于生活要貪婪，對于愛情，對于知識，貪婪是激發(fā)人類向上的動力。貪婪！你們記住我的話，不僅能挽救泰達紙業(yè)，更能挽救機制失調(diào)的美國。感謝各位！
