The Oxford and Cambridge Club is at 71 Pall Mall，London，England. The clubhouse was designed for the membership by architect Sir Robert Smirke and completed towards the end of 1837. The Club effortlessly combines the historic charm of its nineteenth century roots with all that makes life in the twenty-first century convenient and efficient. The Oxford and Cambridge Club provides alumni from both universities an exclusive home away from home in the heart of London.

The Club is the result of a number of amalgamations of university clubs, the most recent being in 1972 between the United University Club，founded in 1821 and the Oxford and Cambridge University Club, founded in 1830.

At the time of its creation the Club had 2,897 members as well as 563 lady associates. In February 1996, the Club voted by an overwhelming majority to allow women full membership with unhindered access to all areas of the Club house. Then, Queen Margarethe II of Denmark became the first Honorary Lady Member.

The foundation of the Oxford and Cambridge University Club dates from a meeting of members from the two Universities held at the British Coffee House, 27 Cockspur Street on 17 May 1830, with Lord Palmerston in the chair. The meeting resolved that a Club consisting of members of both universities should be formed “for the association of gentlemen educated at those universities and for promoting and continuing a mutual interest and fellowship between them.”

Various kinds of sports activities are provided by this club, for example, Squash, fitness facilities, running group, bridge, billiards and snooker, golf，chess and backgammon. The Oxford and Cambridge Club boasts one of the best club libraries in London, and even with some sales of unwanted accumulations, over 20,000 volumes remain to form a well-balanced and very usable collection. The Club hosts a variety of events throughout the year for members and their guests. These include a diverse calendar of discussion dinners, evening lectures and musical evenings that offer entertainment on a weekly basis.
