　　1.炎黃子孫、中華民族、中國人民、中國人，在很多情況下所指的對象是一樣的，都是the Chinese people，但是這些說法在側(cè)重點、語氣、感情色彩等方面還是有所區(qū)別的，翻譯中如果都譯成the Chinese people 或the Chinese nation，就會失去很多東西，特別是上面第二個句子里的“炎黃子孫”要是也譯成the Chinese people，話就不通了。

　　2.“炎帝”的譯名是Yandi，“黃帝”可以譯成Huangdi 或the Yellow Emperor，由于“軒轅”是他的名字，所以還可譯成Xuanyuan Huangdi，但不管譯成什么，必須全文譯法一致，否則前面是Huangdi，后面是Xuanyuan Huangdi，就好像變成兩個人了。

　　3.“軒轅黃帝第五子賜姓張氏”可以有兩種理解，一種是“軒轅黃帝第五子”把“張”這個姓賜給別人，另一種是他被賜姓張。在有條件的情況下，應(yīng)該查一查有關(guān)資料以確定哪一種理解是正確的。下面這個譯文取的是第一種理解，但第二種似更為合理。

　　4.“族譜”如果一時找不到合適的詞，可以試一試釋意的辦法。

　　說明1.“族譜”還可用genealogy，如果用釋意的辦法，可以說the historical record of their family tree，或者更為靈活的many Chinese people trace their family trees back to. . . 等。切不可拘泥。曾有學(xué)生照搬漢英詞典，把它譯成不無滑稽的their pedigree of a clan。

　　2.“現(xiàn)存的……就有……的記載”這是漢語說法，如果硬套這個結(jié)構(gòu)，譯成in the existing. . .here is the record that. . .(or: . . .the record of/ about. . .)就太生硬了。
